The quality of an ID photo is a crucial concern in advanced governmental and corporate biometrically-based ID solutions. Modern digital still cameras provide excellent image quality, but manual photo capture and processing are prone to error. For the production of high-quality ID documents and for all ISO-compatible photo applications, automation and quality control is required for biometric applications. Millions of ID photos already have been taken with the help of FaceSnap technology. FaceSnap® FotoShot is a new solution for portrait capture that integrates FaceSnap with modern digital cameras. With FaceSnap, the digital camera becomes an intelligent portrait photographer. The image is taken automatically when the facial recognition software "sees" a person who poses correctly for an ID photo. All further image processing is also automatic: face cropping, color correction, size standardization, and quality checks.

Features:

• Locates the face and then crops automatically, resizes and color corrects the image for maximum user convenience. FaceSnap works with all types of image backgrounds.
• Utilizing Canon digital cameras, the high-resolution sensor and intelligent software control makes portrait capture a simple process – no need for repositioning the camera for height or for changing capture settings to adapt to different individuals.
• FaceSnap "sees" the face of a person as she or he looks into the camera – the camera shutter release chooses the right moment automatically.
• The client/server software architecture supports portrait capture over the network. Multiple clients can share one capture station.
• Easy integration into ID applications by using the TWAIN interface with the TwainShot client. FaceSnap FotoShot SDK available on request.
