GHOST PORTRAIT
A technique used to make tampering with ID portraits difficult. This faint image is usually placed under variable data for greater security.
GUILLOCHE SECURITY DESIGN These security designs use fine line pre-printing and colours that are difficult to reproduce.
The use of spot colour printing as opposed to 4 colour process printing allows the observer to notice colour and dot pattern differences.
OVERLAPPING DATA
Variable data, such as signature and text, can be “overlapped” with another field, such as a photo image. |
MICRO-PRINTING
Commonly found on national currencies, complicates any attempt at photocopying because of the resolution required to recreate this printing.
Micro-printing can be read with a small eight (8x) power magnifier. Often, deliberate misspelt words are utilised as further covert security feature.
REDUNDANT DATA
Variable data is displayed in more than one location on the card, thereby raising the resistance to alteration. Simple visual inspection is required to determine if all data fields match.

UV GHOST IMAGE & VARIABLE DATA
By using a special ultraviolet fluorescent dye in the ribbon, a full detailed ghost UV image and idividualised UV alphanumeric data can be printed anywhere on the card.
VARIABLE MICRO-SCRIPT
A unique patent-pending covert feature that contains variable date micro-printed in obscure locations on the card. The micro-script usually consists of a combination of the applicant’s initials and date of birth. If visible date of birth is altered, a quick check with a magnifying glass will show a discrepancy between the visible and hidden data. Attempts to counterfeit the document would require knowledge of the feature and how to generate it. |
